"Blood Brothers" by Nora Roberts

Blood Brothers (Sign of Seven Trilogy, Book 1)
written by Nora Roberts was a little different than some of the other murder mystery books that I have read. It is book one of the Sign of Seven Trilogy. In the town of Hawkins Hollow, it's called THE SEVEN. Every seven years, on the seventh day of the seventh month, strange things happen. It began when three young boys went on a camping trip to the Pagan Stone. There they became blood brothers and unwittingly released a force bent on destruction. And twenty-one years later, it will end in a showdown between evil and the boys who have become men, and the women who love them. The strange happenings have given Hawkins Hollow the reputation of a village possessed. This modern day legend involves a reporter/author Quinn Black who hopes to make the eerie happenings the subject of her new book. She becomes involved with Caleb Hawkins and together they form the cornerstone of a group of men and women bound by fate, passion, and the fight against what is to come from out of the darkness.......
As I have found in other murder mystery books, the language is not always the best and I skip over some words as I am reading, but the story was attention getting and I enjoy most of Nora Roberts books. This book was different in that it was a fight against something supernatural rather than the police investigating and finding a killer. A good book to read that keeps you interested from beginning to end.

"The Widow" written by Carla Neggers

The Widow
is one of the murder mystery books by Carla Neggers and is a gripping story of one women's determination to solve the unsolvable case: her husband's murder. Four days after Abigail Browning's wedding, her life changed unimaginably; her husband was fatally shot along the rocky Mount Desert Island coast. Was it a random act of violence, or could someone have wanted Christopher dead? That's the question that has haunted her (a homicide detective) for the past seven years. She returns to the foggy Maine Island after receiving an anonymous tip and her presence there is not well received. The residents of community where her husband's family have lived for generations, would rather forget that this terrible murder ever took place and object to her being there bringing up memories and asking questions. Owen Garrison, the search-and-rescue worker who located Chis too late to save him, still carries guilt from that fateful night. As he helps Abigail unravel the mystery, they learn that the layers of deceit and lies are much thicker than they imagined. Now it is up to them to keep pushing for the truth - and stop a killer from striking again.......
Carla Neggers is a bestselling author who keeps readers guessing "whodunit" to the end of her murder mystery books

"Chosen to Die" murder mystery book

I am not sure how old I was, but years ago my parents gave me a gift one Christmas, a gift of a set of Nancy Drew mystery stories along with a set of the Hardy Boys books. There, I guess, is where my interest for murder mystery books began. I also love to watch movies and TV shows along those same story lines. Last week we were camping and I started a new book the first night when we went to bed. It was well written and caught my attention right off the bat. Before I realized it, it was 2:30 AM and I had to struggle to put it down.
This murder mystery book is titled Chosen To Die
written by Lisa Jackson. I have read some of her other books as well and although she sometimes has a bit of a potty mouth, I really enjoy her way of writing. Chosen to Die is about Detective Regan Pescoli who has been working the "Star Crossed Killer" case for months, never imagining that she'd be captured by the madman she's been hunting. Regan knows exactly what he is capable of and avoiding the same fate as the 4 or 5 victims before her, will take every drop of her courage and cunning. The story tells about her fellow detectives at the precinct and how hard they work to find her when she does disappear. Of course there is a smitten, good looking guy as well, who is not really satisfied that the police are doing everything they can and so he does his own investigating to save her. This book had lots of suspense and I was really shocked at the ending. I never once suspected the right person. I consider this book a really good read.
